Frequently asked questions

What is the Camelot wheel?

A chart of the 24 keys that gives each one a number from 1 to 12 and a letter: A for minor, B for major. Keys next to each other on the wheel sound good together, so DJs use it to mix in key.

Which keys mix together?

The same code, one number up or down with the same letter, and the same number with the other letter (its relative major or minor). From 8A (A minor) that is 7A, 9A and 8B.

How do I find the Camelot code of a song?

Drop the song into the BPM and key finder. It gives the key and its Camelot code, and the file never leaves your device.

Why does going up one number raise the energy?

One step clockwise is a fifth up, which sounds brighter while sharing all but one note. Going anticlockwise calms it down.

Can I make a beat in a key from the wheel?

Yes. Tap a key, hear a lo-fi, pop, house, trap or drill beat in it, then open it in the editor free, no account needed to start.
