Frequently asked questions

How do I find the key of a song?

Choose the song file above (MP3, WAV or M4A). The finder listens to the notes in the first minute and names the key, with its Camelot code, its relative key and the tempo.

Is my song uploaded?

No. The file is read by your browser on your device and never sent anywhere.

Why does it say the relative key?

Every major key shares its notes with one minor key: C major and A minor, G major and E minor. A song can sit between the two, so if the key looks off by that much, the relative key is the other reading.

What is the Camelot code for?

DJs mix in key with it. 8A is A minor and 8B is C major; songs with the same number, or one step apart, blend smoothly. The Camelot wheel shows every key and what mixes with it.

Can I make a beat in the same key?

Yes. Hear a lo-fi, pop, house, trap or drill beat in that key and tempo, then open it in the editor free, no account needed to start.
